24 Hour Diner On The Verge Of Opening In Columbia Heights

September 24th, 2012, posted by Brandon

coupe1.jpegAs Columbia Heights continues to expand its residential appeal, the community continues to add new businesses and restaurants catering to its new neighbors. One thing that has been slightly missing in Columbia Heights, though, is the presence of late night eating options.

IHOP has been open for a few years now, but that’s really been the only establishment open for night owls in the area.  That’s why the neighborhood has to be totally pumped up for the addition of The Coupe, which is on the verge of opening at the corner of 11th and Monroe.

As Eater D.C. reports, The Coupe will be a 24-hour diner from the team behind the Diner, Tryst, and Open City. The Coupe should be an amazing addition to a Columbia Heights community that clearly continues to be “on the rise”.

Why is everyone buzzing about Columbia Heights?  One of the reasons is probably because of the fantastic homes and condos that are available throughout the neighborhood.Find out more info about some of those homes here.   Oh, and get excited about The Coupe…we at BGC certainly are.

Galileo III - My review

January 14th, 2011, posted by Brandon

My dear friend Anthony and I visited Roberto Donna’s Galileo III last week to experience for ourselves what all the fuss was about.  Formally the space for Butterfield 9 (which I always loved for client lunches) Galileo III recently opened, despite the reported troubles of its celebrity chef and owner.

I chose the two course option (plus dessert, so I guess that’s three) and Anthony chose the three course selection.  Our choices ranged from the raviolini (amazing), to the risotto (also fantastic), to the veal medallions (to die for), to the semi freddo (please, give me more).

Overall, the food was what I expected it would be - very, very good.  I thought the wine pairing was off, and the lighting in the restaurant was oddly bright, but I didn’t mind as Nancy Sabbagh, the chef’s wife, greeted us three times and made us feel welcome and ensured a future return.
